Marcus Anthony Pierce

Marcus Anthony Pierce was a student at Ferris State University who worked as a model to put himself through school. On May 5, 1992, Marcus was home in Flint, Genesee County, MI on spring break. He stopped by his mother’s office supply company to tell her he was going to visit a former acquaintance to help move something out of a basement. That was the last time Marcus’ mother saw her son alive. His body was found later in his car in Detroit. He had very little clothing on, and was stabbed 30 times in the neck and chest, shot twice in his hand and three times in the head.

The 20-year-old acquaintance was charged with first degree murder. He was, unknown to Marcus, an escaped fugitive from a minimum security prison. Marcus’ mother, Wanda Pierce, said that when the jury delivered its Not Guilty verdict the judge said he couldn’t believe it, slammed down his gavel, and left the courtroom.
